Mr. Ravichandran Rajagopal

Founder Director of Tulya Group

Commitment to become an entrepreneur was well engrained since my schooling days at Montfort, Yercaud. After my engineering at REC, Trichy both Balakrishnan (my brother) and I toyed with the idea of starting off on our entrepreneurial journey. We examined many opportunities in areas like setting up a chemical factory, construction, logistics and warehousing. Read many project reports related to import substitution and examined business-to-business intermediates. Things were very fluid at this time.

Decided the best thing to do was to gain experience with companies for a deep dive understanding of what we may want to start as our first venture. I continued to do a management degree at IIM, Calcutta after a year’s work at Hindustan Motors, Calcutta. Post MBA joined Ciba-Geigy at Mumbai. Did a two-year stint at the Delhi office, and worked for a year at Chemplast, Chennai. During which time both my brother and I had clarity and started our first family venture, manufacturing cement. In the year of 1993, a very humble beginning, as our parents moved with us with all their savings, and we raised capital from a private bank. In 1995 we started our first dairy unit, as the Indian economy was just beginning to open up.

Today I support my brother with his ventures into Dairy, Dairy products, Cheese, and Beverages. A range of products under the brand name of “Chakra” and “Caroselle” has become a reality!
